From the port of Rhodes, we will visit the historic center of Rhodes on foot.

The Marina Gate welcomes us to the best preserved medieval city in Europe: the ancient city of Rhodes, a treasure protected within its walls, built in a semicircular shape in front of the central port.

Through “Hippokratous” street we will access the square that bears the same name, the main square of the medieval city of “Burgo” or “Chora” of Rhodes. In the center of the “Hippokratous” Square stands a Turkish fountain and around it various shops, restaurants and various businesses. The “Castellanía” building stands out, a stone construction from the 16th century with a large exterior staircase. Under its arches, on the ground floor, was the “Lonja de Mercaderes”, where commercial activities were carried out, while on the first floor was the headquarters of the Criminal Court of the Knights of the Order of Saint John of Jerusalem, inhabitants of the island since its conquest in the first decade of the 14th century. Currently this is the headquarters of the public library.

The Kolakio is the citadel within which are the set of buildings born from the presence of the Order of the Knights of Saint John, which basically includes the Street of the Knights (Ippoton) that goes from the Hospital of the Knights (today Archaeological Museum) to the Grand Master's Palace (optional entrance to be paid on site), the great jewel of the medieval city.

The Street of the Knights is the best preserved medieval street in Europe and one of the most important in Rhodes.

Hippocrates Square is said to be the nerve center of the historic center of Rhodes, and not because it is located precisely in the center, but because it is a strategic point from which three streets start that will take us to the three neighborhoods:

Aristotle Street to the Jew.
Socrates Street to the medieval quarter
Pythagoras Street in Turkish or Ottoman style
Along Aristoteles Street we will reach the Plaza de los Mártires Hebreos, decorated in the middle with a fountain with three bronze seahorses.

Returning to the street of Plaza de los Mártires, this time on the right, we will find the remains of the church of Nuestra Señora del Burgo and in the background the Puerta de la Virgen María de la Victoria.

This tour can also be done in reverse and is equally attractive.

After the tour we will return to the port for the farewell.
