Copenhagen is a modern city that hasn't lost its charm of a fairy tale, with colorful houses and medieval stone bridges over its canals. The capital of Denmark is also the largest city in Scandinavia. The boat ride through the canals continues to be a must visit attraction, as well as The Little Mermaid, Amalienborg Palace, where the royal guard is always present, and Tivoli Park. Tivoli is an amusement park in the center of the city that was built about a century ago. It is especially famous for its elaborate gardens and light exposure.
No doubt Coppenhagen is the most inexpensive capital of Scandinavia and one of the most friendly cities in Europe. It was the first city that decided to close streets to traffic in favor of pedestrians, and the compact center does mostly belong to footers.
The historic center of Copenhagen, called the City, includes most of the attractions. We can say that the City is the area from the Central Station on the west to the Little Mermaid and Kastellet on the east, and from the Lake Zone in the north to the district of Christianshavn in the south.
Cruise ships dock at two different ports, one is closer and one farther away, so make it clear in your company where do you land to better plan the shore tour. If you dock in Langelinie it is within half an hour walk from the center of the city and on your walk you meet The Little Mermaid and other important sites. If you get to Freeport, it can take almost an hour to go downtown.
