Kristiansand walking tour
Kristiansand, known as the capital of the South, was founded in 1641 by King Christian IV and has over 375 years of fascinating history. During this guided walk, you will discover how this town, partially destroyed in the bombings of 1940, re-emerged with a charming mix of modern and traditional architecture.
We will start at the pier, with a first stop at the fish market, where you can try the freshest local specialties. From there, we will walk through the city center, passing by the cathedral and the local market.
We will visit Posebyen, the oldest part of Kristiansand, famous for its right-angled layout and for housing one of the largest groups of low wooden houses in Northern Europe. Our guide will explain the history of the great fire that devastated the town and how the locals rebuilt this area with small boutiques, charming cafes and a unique character that can be felt in every corner.
This tour will allow you to immerse yourself in the history, culture and lifestyle of this vibrant city in southern Norway.
At the end of the tour, we will return to the port.
