Visit to Taormina from the port of Catania
The small and picturesque village of Taormina enjoys a wonderful location on a terrace overlooking the Ionian Sea, on the eastern coast of Sicily. It still retains its medieval character, although it has become one of the most popular tourist enclaves in the Mediterranean.
Passengers will leave the bus and start the tour on foot to admire, from outside, the famous Corvaja Palace (Gothic) dating from the fifteenth century.
Afterwards you will visit the Greek Theater, with its amazing amplitude and extraordinary acoustics. This theater was rebuilt in Roman style in the second century AD. C., and has a diameter of one hundred and nine meters. It is the second largest theater in Sicily after Syracuse. From the high areas there are spectacular views towards the majestic Mount Etna, the largest and still active volcano in Europe.
Before returning to the port, passengers will have free time to walk through the large pedestrian area, where they will have the chance to buy local craft items or walk to Piazza del Duomo to discover the old Dominican Monastery, now a luxury hotel .
Return to the port.
