Group size:

  • Duration: 5 hours
  • PRIVATE

We will begin our walk through the petanque game area impregnated with the presence of Yves Montand and Lino Ventura. There you will find the “Colombe d’Or”, a hotel-restaurant built after the First World War which evokes the memories of disappeared artists such as Chagall, Léger, Braque, Bonnard, or Miró. They have left works that transformed this restaurant into a true museum. In front of this symbol of the artistic life of St. Paul, you will be able to see the walls built by François de Saint Rémy Mandon, Francois I's military engineer. Porte Royale adorned with a cannon from the s. XVI and, from here, we will arrive at the Nice Gate.

We will have an exceptional view of the Cap d'Antibes, the mountain and the Gardettes, a wooded hill. Marc Chagall's grave in the heart of a beautiful Provencal cemetery recalls the artist's commitment to this city where he settled in 1966 and worked tirelessly until his death on March 28, 1985.

We will then cross the town through the rue Grande with its art galleries and shops selling local products. We will also see its "Pontis" (houses built on an arch over the street) and its fountains, classified as a historical monument. We will continue to the collegiate church, built in the s. XIII, which has been modified over time. Here we can admire one of the most beautiful treasures of the Alpes-Maritimes whose centerpiece is the "dome".

To end the journey away from the city, on the road to La Colle-sur-Loup, there is an unavoidable appointment with a place of international art: the Fondation Maeght. Aimé Maeght, The famous Art Dealer and his wife Margaret have dedicated their lives to promoting contemporary art.

After this tour, return to the port and farewell.
