Welcome to Schleswig-Holstein! This fantastic region of northern Germany is the centre of the country’s unique Hanseatic heritage, and our guide will greet you upon arrival in the city of Lübeck to show you all it has to offer! The guide will pick you up in an air-conditioned bus and show you the sights and sounds of Lübeck in supreme comfort. Our excellent tour presents the splendour of the “Queen of the Hanse,” founded in 1143 and becoming the seat of the Hanseatic League, the major trading network which dominated the Baltic region during the medieval period. Lübeck is located on the River Trave and was chosen as a UNESCO World Heritage site due to its unique Gothic architecture. The city’s timeless brick buildings and bustling streets serve as a living reminder of northern Germany’s medieval history. Your guide will show you the iconic Holsten Gate and the city’s seven Gothic towers, as well as the Holy Spirit Hospital. Built in 1280 during the height of Hanseatic prosperity, the Holy Spirit is believed to be one of the world’s oldest still-standing hospital buildings. Next stop is St. Mary’s Church, another can’t-miss destination which has captivated visitors from around the world. After soaking up the intriguing culture and history of Lübeck, the tour will give you a chance to enjoy a delicious lunch prepared in the Schleswig-Holstein style.
