Venice Murano, Burano and San Marco
The northern Italian city of Venice is a fantastic destination in itself, but we’d love the opportunity to show you some of the gorgeous surrounding islands! Our representative will pick you up in port and take you by boat down the Giudecca Canal to Murano, a small island renowned since 1291 as a centre of fine glass production. It became home for many glassmakers after the city of Venice banned the activity. There you will watch firsthand as master glassblowers ply their trade, allowing you to admire their precise handiwork.
After that is the isle of Burano, a tiny outcrop peppered with beautiful brightly coloured houses. The island is famous for its lace making industry, a tradition maintained by some local women. After taking in these fantastic sister islands the guide will return you to Venice where you can experience the Serenissima as well as St. Mark’s Cathedral, the cultural heart of Venice which also lies in close proximity to some other iconic sights.
After taking some time to explore the area on your own, the guide will personally escort you back to port where you will embark for the next destination on your European adventure. We consider Murano and Burano to be two of Italy’s best-kept secrets, and can’t wait to show them to you in the near future!
