Finally we will arrive at the Napoli Sotterranea (Underground Naples) to explore Naples from a different point of view; discovering its history and mysteries. The underground network of 280 miles (450 kilometers) was devised by the Greeks in the 4th century BC. C. to build what they then called Neapolis, or "New City". The Romans later; they used the chambers and tunnels to build aqueducts, which provided water for many centuries to the Neapolitans. As the centuries passed, the current buildings were built on the old infrastructure and the remains were hidden in the depths of the city.
