Helsinki and Porvoo
During the sightseeing tour we will get to know all of the most famous and impressive places in the centre of Helsinki: the Senate Square, the university and the Lutheran Cathedral - outstanding examples of the neoclassical architecture of the 1840´s. We will also visit the picturesque seaside market, Kaivopuisto Park with its famous piers that are used for washing carpets and the diplomatic residences located there, the magnificent Marshall Mannerheim memorial, The House of Parliament, the Finlandia Hall which was designed by Alvar Aalto (a famous Finish architect), the Olympic Stadium where you will see the Paavo Nurmi memorial and the Opera House where you will see a monument dedicated to the great composer Jean Sibelius. If we have time we will also visit the wonderful Temppeliaukio Church, which is carved out of rock.
Afterwards we will make the trip to Porvoo, which takes approximately 1 hour. It is the second oldest city in Finland and we will enjoy a fantastic tour around the city, which is characterised by its idyllic wooden houses. You will enjoy a walk with our guide and have free time to browse craft and antique shops before returning to the port of Helsinki.
