  • Duration: 5 hours

The Viking tour takes you towards the west of Copenhagen, through the fields and small villages, some of which were founded by Vikings over a thousand years ago. On arrival in Roskilde - the capital of Denmark until 1417 - you will visit the Viking ship museum. The museum contains the remains of five Viking ships that were recovered from the Roskilde Fjord, where they were sunk over a thousand years ago to prevent invaders from gaining access to the villages using the sea. After visiting the museum, you will go on a short tour of the town square, during which you will be able to visit the Cathedral. The construction of the Cathedral began in the 12th century and over the years various additions have been made in different architectural styles. The Cathedral is the traditional resting place of Danish Royalty and contains more than forty Royal tombs.

Museum entrance fees are not included and you will be required to pay.

Roskilde Viking Ship Museum: 19 EUR Per Person
The Viking Ship Museum was specifically built in 1969 to house the five ships that were deliberately sunk at the turn of the 11th century to block an important route into the city and protect the Capital of Denmark (which was Roskilde at the time).

Roskilde Cathedral: 9 Euros Per Person
Work on the Cathedral began in 1170, by order of Bishop Absalon, but was not completed until the start of the 15th century. The Cathedral still functions as a parish church today, which sometimes prohibits public entry. The Cathedral is considered a World Heritage Site.
