This tour designed for those who are interested in the History of the Jewish people in Amsterdam. Tour performed by professional guides from the Jewish Historical Museum. They will share their stories while showing you specific buildings and monuments that are related to this subject. You will visit the old Jewish quarter where our guide will show you the Jewish Historical Museum with its impressive collection of more than 13,000 artworks. Also, you will visit the market called Waterlooplein and walk through the busy street of Jodenbreestraat. You will have a chance to learn everything about the world of diamonds at the Gassan Diamond Center and see the Portuguese Synagogue. This Sephardic synagogue dates back from the seventeenth century, considered to be one of the largest in the world and was inspired by the Solomon’s Temple. Furthermore, you will see the work of the Dutch artist and writer Jan Wolker – the Auschwitz Monument, that is commemorating the victims of Auschwitz and located in the Wertheim Park. At the end of our tour we will see the Hollandsche Schouwburg - an old theater with a permanent exhibition dedicated to the persecution of Jews during the World War II, that used to be the place where Nazis gathered Jews to deport them to the concentration camps.
