Our guide will pick you up from the port.

The community of Giske is located on the group of several islands. We will visit two of them: Giske Island and Godoy Island. Nowadays almost 6.300 inhabitants have a connection with the Alesund and the continent through a free ferry.

Giske is known as Saga Island and is the birthplace of the great Viking chief Rollo (later established on the northern coast of France now known as Normandy). The Islands are connected through the underwater bridges and tunnels, - the longest one is 4.2 km. In Giske, which is considered to be relatively flat and fertile island, there have been settlements since the Bronze Age.

We will stop at the Church of Giske, an old stone and marble church dating back from 1150 BC. The chapel originally used to belong to the powerful Arnunge family of Giske.

Then we will visit the Godoy Island, the small fishing village called Alnes and the lighthouse that is facing the Atlantic Ocean. On a clear day the view of the ocean and the islands is fantastic. You can only observe the lighthouse from the outside as there is no longer an access to the property.

After we will return to Alesund and go to Mount Aksla to have a chance to see a fantastic view to the city and its surroundings. We will have a drink in the viewpoint cafeteria called FJELLSTUA.

Then we will return to the port.
